WAYNESVILLE — The feeling within Waynesville High School’s football program is that perhaps it’s time for the Spartans to make some playoff noise.

The postseason hasn’t been terribly kind to Waynesville through the years — its record is 2-9 in nine previous appearances — but the current team is 9-
