PIGEON FORGE, Tenn. — Monroe High School’s opening week of softball competition wasn’t very pretty on the scoreboard. Nobody would dispute that, but it wasn’t a total washout.

The Hornets dropped all four games by a 65-9 margin on their Tennessee trip to the Ripken Experience complex, yet
