SEASON PREVIEW: Fairfield very optimistic about 2020 campaign, will put a lot of veterans on the field

Fairfield High School pitcher Evan Verquer had a 1.07 earned run average last season as a junior. It was the second-best ERA among Greater Miami Conference baseball pitchers who threw more than 20 innings.

FAIRFIELD — Preseason workouts were going so well that Fairfield High School baseball coach Tommy Begley believed the 2020 season was going to be a special one.
