WAYNESVILLE — Jake Amburgy could see a championship on the horizon, even when it seemed almost ridiculous to think about it.

It hasn’t been a long time since Waynesville High School’s football team went 5-25 over three seasons, a stretch that included an 0-10 campaign in 2016. But the Spartans
