Saunders’ late trey beats Wilmington as Monroe restarts Popplewell era with season-opening win

MONROE — Monroe High School’s boys basketball team worked hard enough and played well enough to never be trailing Tuesday night in its season opener.

That doesn’t mean it was easy.
