Monroe pitches shutout in season opener against Talawanda, but key injuries dampen the celebration

MONROE — Monroe High School’s football team turned in a solid all-around performance and secured a 28-0 season-opening victory over visiting Talawanda on Friday night.

But it came at a high price.

The Hornets suffered three significant injuries — to senior quarterback Ryan Miles, senior slotback Landen Wynn and junior free
